This is Communications Committee member First Officer Scott Shankland with the APA Information Hotline for Friday, April 3.

NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE:
Negotiations between APA and management resumed this week for only the third scheduled bargaining week this year. There were no substantive discussions this week on compensation, scope, work rules or any other core contractual issues. A thorough update on the issues discussed will be posted to the APAnegotiations.com Web site on Monday. AA negotiators continue to reject our offer to meet without the mediator present. The next mediated bargaining sessions are scheduled for the first full week of May.

APA NATIONAL OFFICERS ROAD SHOW CANCELLED:
In an e-mail message to the membership yesterday, APA President Captain Lloyd Hill announced that the remaining National Officers’ road show meetings were cancelled. Captain Hill’s message may be accessed via the home page of the alliedpilots.org Web site.

APA BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONFERENCE CALL:
Today the APA National Officers, Board of Directors and select national committee members convened a voting conference call. During the call, the Board waived policy to elect members to the national Communications Committee. Elected to the committee were First Officer Scott Shankland, First Officer Tom Hoban, Captain Russ Dennis, First Officer Kent Calvin, First Officer Mark Fowler, First Officer Dennis Tajer, First Officer Jennifer Ewald and First Officer Craig Railsback. Captain Sam Mayer remains on the committee as chairman.

SPC TRACKING EXERCISE “BLUEBERRY”:
APA SPC will conduct tracking exercise “Blueberry” for all ORD and STL domicile pilots on Tuesday, April 7 through Wednesday, April 8. Participation in this exercise will require precise attention to detailed instructions. Day one of the exercise includes all ORD and STL domicile pilots on duty. Day two involves only pilots flying in a specific bid status.

Log on to the alliedpilots.org Web site for specific instructions for each day. Please pass the word to your fellow ORD and STL pilots to check alliedpilots.org and participate in this exercise. The SPC “Blueberry” instructions on the members’ home page will be available starting April 6 and will end on April 8, 2009.

That’s all we have for today. Remember, your participation is essential to your success in getting the contract you deserve! Thanks for checking this hotline.
