SPIRIT PILOTS ANNOUNCE TENTATIVE AGREEMENT, STILL ON STRIKE: In a recorded hotline message this afternoon at 4:02 p.m. EDT, the Spirit Airlines Master Executive Council strike chairman announced that the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and airline management have reached a tentative agreement. According to the strike chairman, the Spirit pilots and management have been in continuous negotiations since 1 p.m. Tuesday. The strike chairman notes that the tentative agreement "satisfies the MEC goal," but also notes that ultimate approval is subject to completion of contract language and other considerations such as resolving "back-to-work issues."
The message directs Spirit pilots to "continue with your normal strike-related activities until otherwise advised." It also indicates that there will be an update later this evening with more details. As a reminder, the Spirit pilots' strike hotline is 1-877-772-2572.
